The second of the two songs I learned before deciding to share my progress. Unlike Raggs Requiem which was a request, learning Way Back Into Love was completely my idea.

Although it has its plot holes, as most things do, Music and Lyrics is one of my favorite movies and I enjoy the soundtrack most of all. I didn’t have much hope of finding sheet music for Way Back Into Love, to be honest, so I was happily surprised to find a simple version on EveryonePiano.

With so many left (and right) hand jumps and less repetitive sections, Way Back Into Love is a lot more challenging than Raggs Requiem. The good thing about the challenge this song presented however, is it helped me get started with reading music and I found a nifty trick to help myself learn (I’ll share my method later on, so stay tuned!).

Since my initial struggles, I’ve played it enough to have memorized the notes, most of them anyway. Filming this one took a lot longer than I expected for a song I know by heart.

In the process of filming, and checking over the sheet music to make sure I had the timing right, I realized there were several sections I’d misplayed or even played too slowly. Cue several off-screen practice sessions to try and retrain my muscle memory.

Ignoring a small blip (one I decided wasn’t a big enough disaster to cut), I think I did pretty well.
